Ill Son- Ilkeston based punk band consisting of 3 members. They started the night off with nine energetic catchy punk songs. The only band tonight I saw drink alcohol between the songs…not that it was a bad thing of course. But they did sing the line “Beer, beer, I want more beer” (which explained it) a speeded up version of the Macc Lads song. All went well and their set was great. It was their first gig together and it surely had a great start to the night.
Bad Habit- Hmmm, I am sure I have heard this band name some were before? Oh, of course… They covered Green Day a lot so I was guessing it was one of their main influences. Jumping about with their guitars and bass didn’t seem to impress, but the way they interacted with the crowd was good. Played friendly rock pop, but it seemed to attract people. Thought they had finished, but people screamed for more…so they play an acoustic song and so on. Only 3 of them but it seemed like they played forever…
Inflight Program- These had been added late to the line up for the gig because The Atoms had pulled out. But they did very well. The singer as soon as it started, reminded me of The Bronx singer. Played 8 songs of heavy, shouty music…not a big crowd but that was only because they are a Derby based band and not many people from Nottingham had even heard of them. They were very different from the last two bands but very catchy. Kind of…reminded me of seeing The Bronx..in away.. The singer stood on an amp. He either dropped or chucked the microphone but ow…it hurt me. They ended the night great. All the bands tonight are worth seeing and they all had their own individual best bits about them.
