After original frontman, Jesse Leach, parted his ways Killswitch Engage’s future was in doubt. New blood has come in the shape of Howard Jones recruited to take over vocal duties and Justin Foley as the new drummer.
And so there’s really one simple question to ask at the start of this. Can Killswitch Engage still prove that they are the best of American metal today?
One simple answer. Yes.

‘The End Of Heartache’ could be put forward as the best album of the year. It is certainly the best so far. Each track is a little gem. Instrumental tracks ‘Inhale’ and ‘And Embers Rise’ give a breather to the brutal onslaught that is the rest of the album.
There is no song that I can pick out and say are better than others as each song is as good as the one next to it. If I had to pick any I’d go for ‘When Darkness Falls’ and ‘Rose of Sharyn’ but like I said None totally stand out as better than the rest.
