Lars Frederiksen And The Bastards
Viking
(Hellcat)

I have to admit. I was skeptical about this CD. I LOVE Rancid, but let's face it Tim Armstrong does the majority of the writing and how could something go toe to toe with Indestructible? I'm sure this is just a 'Hey, we still listen to the US Bombs and Agnostic Front'  type album. A stab at keeping 'Street Cred'.
Well, my skepticism was COMPLETELY un called for. This CD RULES! It's almost like all the things you love about Rancid mixed with a more Motorhead type approach.
Kicking off with 'Bastards', the line 'Bastards, Kings of Rock n Roll'. Nice. Nice to hear a punk band owning to being 'rock'.  Other highlights include '1%' a straight up kick ass rock n' roll song, 'Mainling Murder' is a slow sleazy song about well...Murder...'For You' another straight up in your face rock n'roll anthem. 'Viking' is almost...dare I say a classic acoustic track and this closes the disk.
And of course there are the harder faster elements in there like, 'Fight' that won't disappoint in the pit.
If you don't like this record, you don't like rock n' roll. Period
