Were did the name Irony Of Faith come from? Faith is the ground of a man’s life. When I say "faith" I don't mean only the religious one, but also faith in an idea, in a woman/man, in a friend, in a job, in whatever you want, even in bad things as a low self-esteem. What we say is “what happens when you lose your faith?”; your ground fall, something in your life seem to fall apart, and the effect on you is a feeling. So feelings are nothing more than a loss of faith. That’s ironic, isn’t it? Well, that’s it, Irony of Faith
Who has been the biggest inspiration for you so far? Is difficult for us to say who has been our biggest inspiration. In fact every single Irony of Faith’s member listen to a lot of different music. For example, when I was very young I started listening to brit-pop, then I started to listen to every kind of rock, and now I’m in love with trip-hop and electro. We love music in his every way and we put no barriers between us and this world, so that we are influenced by everything we like. Anyway some people told us that we seem a Mike Patton band (Faith No More, Mr Bungle, Fantomas, etc.) or something like Dog Fashion Disco. It could be true, in fact the link between us and those bands is that we like to play music, without any kind of barriers or limits.
*What are you hoping to succeed while being in iof? I hope that some day we’ll have the possibility of make a lot of people listen to our music and play around the world, so that all the world could listen to what music should be: music for music’s sake.
Then one of my dream is to write a “great song”, one of that songs that everyone knows, even if they don’t know who wrote it. Unluckily in this years is difficult to write songs like that, in fact it’s just a dream...:)
would you rather go to a gig or party? I’d rather go to a party with a gig! :) Or better, I’d rather play at a party with IoF!
How was the music scene for you in Milan while growing up? Unluckily here in Italy there are a lot of difficulties for young bands to grow up. The greatest problem is that there isn’t enough audience at the gigs, because here is rare that someone goes to see a band that doesn’t know very well. The only way is to make a lot of gigs and promotion (alone because is very difficult to find a good label here), but it’s difficult to play in important places if you are not famous, so this is a vicious circle. Luckily in the last years a lot of good band were born and, because of the problems I’ve just talked about, we are trying to help each other. The good thing here in Milan is that we have a lot of places to play and maybe this is the best city in Italy to play music.
Do you feel that it is the United Kingdom and USA that get all the best bands touring there? Maybe, but I think that this happens because in that countries the rock-audience is bigger. For example, in Norway and in Finland there are a lot of rock-gigs because there’s a very big rock-audience.Anyway it can’t be true that the UK and USA get all the best bands touring there...in fact we’ve never toured in those countries (eh eh...joking...:))
