Tonight was America’s night. The best of the New Wave Of American Heavy Metal hit Nottingham at full force ready to show Britain what America is made of.
God Forbid began proceedings strongly with their brutal onslaught of metal.
Shadows Fall carried on where God Forbid left off and more so.
And finally it was time for the two bands that everybody was waiting for, Chiamira and Killswitch Engage.
Chimaira came on first and showed what tonight was all about. They played a strong, heavy set only failing slightly with their synchronised headbanging and guitar flipping which looked as though they’d rehearsed it until they could perfect it.
And then it was Killswitch Engage. Guitarist Adam D entered the stage wearing disturbingly short denim shorts announcing that it took a real man to pull them off. He continued to run around like he was on too much sugar for the rest of the set.
There was never a dull moment in Killswitch Engage’s set. They were played energetically and even the in between song banter was amusing.
Tonight it was a split decision as to who stole the show. I personally preferred Killswitch Engage but it was definitely a close call between them and Chimaira. They both played great sets.
Overall it was a great night.
