When we got to the venue we discovered that it had been moved from Rock City to the Rescue Rooms. It was a slow start for tonights opener, Ephel Duath. When they finished their first song you couldn’t help but feel sorry for them. They got a few cheers and claps that mainly came from the back. They sounded original and had a very clear jazz influence. Most of the songs had a jazz based sound with a trumpet contrasting with loud brutal screams. A sort of band you have to listen to a few times before getting used to. The vocalist horrified the crowd by stamping his feat in front of them as they jumped back. crazy. By the middle of the set they’d won over the audience and they seemed to love them. A flying start by Poison The Well. What can I say? Their enthusiasm picked up the crowd. So enthusiastic that the guitarist fell over in the first song. It didn’t ruin their set at all. They laughed it off and played songs such as Crystal lake, Zombies are good for your health, botchla and sticks and stones never made sense. They played a great set and are definitely worth seeing live. The Dillinger Escape plan grabbed the crowds attention tonight. The vocalist interacted with the crowd and made almost everyone apart of it. Even cracked the odd joke. Having seen these before I hadn’t been totally impressed, but with to nights performance they really pulled it off. Fast drumming, catchy riffs, what you would expect from DEP. If you are into the hardcore scene, then you must see these bands. It is worth it.
