It’s taken them far too long, but Queen Adreena’s third album is finally here. Was it worth the wait? Well…kinda. Lead single FM Doll was amazing, and tracks like Suck and In Red manage to equal it if not better it, but nothing can hide the fact that this album is decidedly patchy. Childproof tries and fails to be as haunting as For I Am the Way, Princess Carwash (Slight Reply) is a pointless repeat of half an earlier song and Katie Jane Garside’s newly-adopted country and western warble is just plain wrong. The songs are good, but they’re more coherent and (whisper it) commercial than earlier Adreena. The chaotic appeal of Taxidermy and Drink Me has been replaced by a cleaner, more polished sound. Luckily, it doesn’t make much more sense…
