I have to admit that I am a sucker for anyband that is being billed as the next 'Refused'. Evert review of Sex Position's album was hailing them as the 'Shape of Punk to Come'. So I had to get this sucker.
Great Name! Great Packaging...it's pink and yellow and black with some fishnet legs. This is always good to me. On to the music..
I have to admit that at first I thought "Shit. I believed the Hype. Chuck D, this is typical Screamo Metal Core!" But it had some great grooves so I gave it another spin. I'm glad I did. While this IS still kind of well..scream o metal core...that doesn't mean it isn't good. Infact...after a few listens..yea..it's pretty damn good.
It does lack some melody and hook, but I don't know that is the intent of the album. This is more about experimentation and expression.
Is it the shape of punk that came? The Karma Sutra? Nahh..but if your going to buy one scream-o album this year, it should definitely be this one.
