First up tonight, Communique. They had catchy riffs but they tended to get a bit boring and repetetive as their set went on.
Then My Chemical Romance took to the stage amidst a barrage of screams and shouts. The whole venue went crazy as they launched head first into ‘I’m Not Okay (I Promise)’.
Gerard Way (or Dead Casual as he said he was called), face painted as a skull, jumped around the stage madly and sang every word like he meant it. Every member of the band played with so much energy they could have powered the lights.
songs played included ‘Thankyou For The Venom’, ‘You Know What They Do To Guys Like Us In Prison’, ‘To The End’ and ‘Ghost of You’. The last one being a ballad meant mobile phones and lighters were held up all around the hall.
MCR have become an unstoppable force ready to take over the world and tonight it’s clear they sure have Nottingham on their side.

Adam Lazzara could have his own stage show. He’s entertaining alone, strutting about the stage, twirling his microphone in the air and wrapping it around his neck. Even his onstage banter was entertaining.
With the rest of the band behind him, Playing their instruments with so much energy, their hearts clearly into the music, Taking Back Sunday showed why they are one of the top emo bands around.
Now don’t get me wrong, Taking Back Sunday are a really good band and they did play a fantastic set and really set the room alight. But, (you knew there was going to be a but) it was always going to be hard to follow My Chemical Romance. So there was always that feeling of ‘this could be better’ during their set which is a shame. Something tells me maybe it should have been the other way around.
