ATREYU
THE CURSE

There’s something about Orange County as its churning out a lot of great bands at the moment. Maybe it’s something in the water, but whatever, Atreyu are one of these bands. They’re a band that took your usual hardcore sound and turned it in to something a bit more unique by being more emotional than you’d expect of hardcore bands and adding effective  guitar shredding.

Although there are similarities to their previous release, Suicide Notes and Butterfly Kisses, thay have made significant progression. This album is heavier and darker than the last. They have kept a sound what works and took it to a new level.
‘Right Side of The Bed’ is easily the lightest and most accessible song on the album. It has a more punkier edge to it.
Highlights include ‘Bleeding Mascara’ and ‘The Crimson’.
This album shows the new direction in which metal today is heading. If it stays as good as this may it continue to do so.
