Another typical English rainy day. I hate it but the guitarist from Death Becomes You said the opposite to me...
It took a while for Engerica to come on stage. I'd heard them on the radio and they were better than I thought they'd be starting off with 'The Smell'. The song drives me insane but it sure was good live. He sang in a more 'girly' voice and screamed really high pitched that it went through you. They also played 'Road Kill'. Not many people were that impressed and they didn't get much of an applause. The singer Dave said "I know were the support band but c'mon..." Obviously he could see it too. At some points you thought the song would end, but it didn't. They were good but played to the wrong crowd.
Death Becomes You backed up Wednesday13 as the backing band for his solo tour. Mad they are! The drummer wearing not much except thong's and fishnets, all of them in makeup of course. Wednesday 13 had 13 written on his forehead (so did I at this point because earlier he had wrote it on my forehead too). They started with a sort of scary tune for the intro of the set while they all got on stage to go into their first song 'Kill You Now' followed by 'Monster Monster 13'. The songs were his Frankenstein Drag Queens From Planet 13 songs except the two covers one by Alice Cooper and one by The Ramones. They did a set of about 17 or 18 songs (if some idiot hadn't of ripped the middle of my set list and ran away, I would know). Twice they went off stage and people chanted "Wednesday" repeatedly. They still used some of the recordings they took from films off his FDQFP13 albums at the start of some songs. Wed13 played guitar for a few songs so people who were not known to FDQ were impressed. He had a chicken (not real of course!) stuck to his microphone and talked it at one point. The chicken didn‘t think we was as good as the night before... Anyway, they finished off with 'Neon Black', 'Scary Song' and then an encore, then rounded the gig off with '197666'. They even played 'Rambo' which was cool. I got pretty squashed tonight. Stayed at the front though it was quite compact it being in the basement. But it was worth every minute.
